No! With this most recent version of IE (I'll admit I hated the old stuff), I have had no problems or complaints. It may be easier to avoid spyware (which I don't have a problem doing anyways) with Firefox, but it's worth avoiding the "so, I hear this is showing up weird on Firefox," or the even more common, "the sound doesn't work with Firefox, so go download this." As far as I can tell, most people use Firefox as a workaround for their computers' spyware problems, not a fix. Also, I don't like tabs.

You can sleep easy knowing you're helping to make sure nobody can ever compete with microsoft. "Whatever the microsoft software does, THAT's the specification; every divergence is a bug by definition."

or the even more common, "the sound doesn't work with Firefox, so go download this."

Audio? No idea what you're talking about.

Uh, wrong. A lot of us don't even use windows you know.

Also, I don't like tabs.

"I don't like progress." Not liking tabs is like pining for DOS because in the good old days you weren't distracted by having more than one program running.

I think you're being unfair about his not liking tabs. If he wants to have a completely irrational distaste for tabs, that's fine so long as he doesn't post about it on a public forum as if other people should...oh, wow, well you should definitely tear him a new one.

tabbed browsing

(Permanent Link)
I like tabbed browsing for some purposes (I love being able to open eight different pages in a single window from my Bookmarks menu, for example); but I often open pages in new windows (not just new tabs) because I think Alt+Tab and Alt+Shift+Tab are easier to hit than Ctrl+PageUp and Ctrl+PageDown.

You realize you can use Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Tab to switch between tabs in firefox, right?

I'm not choosing a browser with company competition in mind - I'm choosing it for its functionality in the things I do.

"pining" for DOS? funny you should use that word, considering it sounds so much like the decrepit mail client you folks love so much
