It's so sad, but it's true. I have moments like that myself :X

True, dat. Where's this cute little comic from? Or did you make it up yourself?

Hello. That's from my site, xkcd.com -- check it out!

I was DYING at the Kepler comic...that's what a B.A. in astronomy gets you, I guess (and not much else)...

A lot of the old gurus of computer science were astronomy majors, which I thought was interesting. But then, thinking about it, it's probably because there weren't so many established CS degree programs back then.

Someone who I'll leave anonymous posted two comments and then apparently thought better of it and deleted them. I have to resurrect them just so I can reply:

Maybe I'm stupid but I'll be brave enough to admit that I don't get the Kepler comic. What's the joke?

Allow me to reply to myself (Google is my friend):

I guess it refers to sweeping out an equal area in equal time, Kepler's 2nd law. Not really funny. I think invoking a smug satisfaction in those who actually get it is more what that strip is going for. Nothing wrong with that I suppose, but I wouldn't call it "funny".

It's a little funny because of the joke about kepler's law but it's MOSTLY funny because we get to imagine people reacting like you just did.

Thanks for the anonymity, but I'll own up to the above phantom postings.

After I posted them I realized that it made little sense for me to ask a question which can be easily answered through a bit of online research. Once I found the answer to my own question it occurred to me that both posts were now entirely without purpose. Rather than open myself up to the possibility of you pointing that out to me with your preferred method of no-so-subtle insults, I decided the logical thing to do was to delete them myself and spare myself the likely derision.

So, I basically took them down to avoid being ripped on for making pointless posts on your blog. We all know you run a tight ship here and I didn't want to contribute to what you would refer to as noise. Funny how things work out huh?

Oh, so its not smug satisfaction at all then...

They're not mutually exclusive.

Oh, there's some smugness and some satisfaction there. Any attempt at physics or math humor gets funny points from me just for the effort. If it's actually humorous, that's all gravy.

What do you call a 2.718281828 kg turd?

A natural log.

... Dude, *spot on*. I can't count the number of times I've experienced something and went "what's the best way to share this with LJ?" :)

Whoa, hi, I'm glad you like my comic!

Would you mind adding a link to let people know where you got it (xkcd.com)? I would appreciate that.

Again, thanks -- I love seeing people enjoying my comic.

Have you noticed the easter egg alt texts on the images? They make the comic that much funnier. Thanks for pointing this out!
