Given that slashdot.org comes in at High School level I think you can safely ignore this.

Another data point http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/ a Sydney tabloid comes in at College (Undergrad)

I think that yours is hindered by comments, but for all I know it's not counting them at all.

Then again, if you're trying for readership then you're right on target!

Hmph. Looks like I'll have to be raising the level of discourse over at howardtreesong/livejournal.com, which came in at the fine "elementary school" level.

Your blog's milquetoast reading level

Actually it means "high school junior", but we haven't learned proper word-order yet.

Doesn't this go more to your writing level?

As opposed to what kind of education we need to read it? And wouldn't getting a lower score allow for more readers to grasp your concepts?

Three questions I don't have the answer to, and since this isn't the current post, I may never get them....

Really all this is is a measure based on syllables and sentence length:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flesch-Kincaid_Readability_Test#Flesch.E2.80.93Kincaid_Grade_Level

If such a system were accurate, you would want the lowest score possible without losing the meaning of what you were trying to say; of course, since there is no way to objectively determine whether or not you said what you were trying to say, you cannot really come up with a meaningful algorithm to determine your efficiency with words.

It's not a totally useless measure, but when it is presented as this website does, it is totally useless (which is Paul's point).

Well, I didn't really see this as Paul's point, but thank you for clarifying his thinking for him.

My point, and I did have one, is if what you say above is true, then a how to type blog should be more comprehensible, at which point, the lower the score the better, as you'd want to be accessible to the highest amount of people. I have three different blogs, and I received three different scores. I don't know what that means, either....
